SCARS CAUSED BY SELF INFLICTION

MicroArt Scar Camouflage covers scars that are created by suicide attempts or cutting.

Permanent makeup is applied using heavy gauge needles or a blade to penetrate deep into the skin causing bleeding, bruising, scabbing, scarring, and downtime.  Permanent makeup uses various forms of tattoo inks that are toxic to the body; its colors are harsh and change over time. So people can end up with blue or orange inks in the skin.  Another issue with permanent makeup is that as our skin ages and naturally starts to sag the ink ends up in the wrong place so it accentuates the signs of aging.

Permanent makeup artists’ training is only a few days. Their minimal training and the equipment & products used all contribute to the harsh look associated with permanent makeup and microblading.  The best way to fix that is with MicroArt, (correcting poor microblading and permanent (tattoo) makeup comprises 20% of our procedures).

MicroArt Semi Permanent makeup, on the other hand, has the most natural results. There is NO downtime, NO bruising, NO scabbing, NO scarring.  Because MicroArt technology uses an acupuncture needle as thin as a human hair that vibrates on the dermal layer of the skin 80 to 100 times per second, the results are incredibly precise. Colors are custom blended to match each client’s skin color with our non-toxic mineral-based pigments. It takes about 1 year to train a Micro-Artist to perform the procedure. The results are amazing.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT MICROART MELASMA CAMOUFLAGE

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER EACH SESSION?

There will be some temporary swelling and redness right after your treatment. This may take several days to disappear depending on which area of the body, how much pigment is applied and the general health of the skin.

Right after your procedure, the color will appear stronger compared with how it will ultimately look. Within a few days, the skin will start to slightly exfoliate and the color will become lighter to become the intended shade. No makeup should be worn on the pigmented skin for seven days after each session.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING EACH MELASMA CAMOUFLAGE TREATMENT?

Colors are custom blended for each area to match your skin tones. Pigments are non-toxic, hypoallergenic and are sourced from natural minerals. We have never had a single allergic reaction to any of our products. Pigment is deposited and into the melasma tissue and blended slightly into the adjacent nearby skin. This is performed using proprietary equipment that houses a single acupuncture needle (the width of a human hair) that gently vibrates on the outer layers of the skin. The vibration deposits pigment into the skin until the desired color is achieved. Your MicroArt technician evaluates the skin at the beginning of each session and custom blends a color to best match your natural skin tone. Your treatment, the custom pigment blends, are meticulously charted and photographed for future sessions and reference.

How many sessions do I need?

Multiple sessions are needed in order to seamlessly match your color. During each session, a pigment is blended into the skin in layers. For our new clients initially, 4 sessions 4 weeks apart are required. Because some of the pigment exfoliates after each session, the series of sessions are necessary to build the color into the skin and seamlessly match your skin color.  It takes about 4 weeks after each appointment for the color to completely settle and stabilize. During each session, more pigment is added to the skin in thin layers changing the color of the skin and blending it to your natural skin color. You will see instant results after each session. Every 4 weeks you’ll return for more pigmentation until you have had 4 treatments. During each session, the color is reviewed and adjustments are made if needed.

Each melasma camouflage treatment is unique, so the number of sessions needed to obtain the desired results will vary based on each client’s individual situation. On average 80% of our clients are color matched in 4 treatments.

What can I expect after each session?

You will see the results right away! After each session the pigment will appear intense and will lighten up in time for your next session when we add more pigment. After each session, the color fades less until the color is matched and blended. Your skin will be a little red and irritated for 3 to 10 days after each procedure. Like a sunburn. No makeup or skin care products can be used on this area for 7 days other than the custom hypoallergic after-care products we provide you to use twice a day (included in the treatment price). After 7 days you can use your regular skin care products again.

How long will it last?

MicroArt typically last up to 3 years on the skin if not maintained, though this varies somewhat individually. During that time, it will gradually fade. Most clients choose to maintain by coming in for a touch-up session ranging from every six months to once per year or two depending on your skin. With maintenance sessions your melasma will never be seen again.

Will it hurt?

The level of discomfort varies from person to person depending on what area of the body is being camouflaged. We always use a strong topical numbing cream. MicroArt uses a single acupuncture needle (the width of a single human hair) that gently vibrates on the outer layers of the skin, so discomfort is minimal. For sensitive areas such as hands, lidocaine injections are available at a modest added cost and must be pre-scheduled.
